First Blog on Hazardous Substance Testing

Well, this probably isn't the first blog dedicated to providing information on hazardous substance regulations and testing - but it is the first one from Skyray XRF...please add any thoughts or information relating to hazardous substance testing that others may be interested in!

XRF stands for x-ray fluorescence; it's a non-destructive testing method used for a variety of applications (coating thickness, karat analysis, etc). In recent years a popular use of XRF has been testing for levels of hazardous substances (lead, cadmium, etc). That use has grown because of regulations overseeing levels of hazardous materials in products, which are affecting a variety of industries. I'm sure that you have heard of toy recalls because of paint that was contaminated with lead - a test with XRF at some point in the quality control process could have caught the problem before toys were on the shelves.

Skyray XRF is new to North America, but have been a leading manufacturer of XRF for many years. We will have another blog at our website (http://www.skyrayxrf.com/) that will deal with different aspects of XRF Technologies - but this Hazardous Substance Testing Blog is dedicated to information on various regulations, industries affected and how Skyray XRF is working to perfect our testing instruments.
